Frequently Asked Questions

What is Zalgo text?

Zalgo text stacks Unicode "combining" diacritical marks above, below, and through ordinary letters to create a glitchy, corrupted-looking effect. The base letters underneath stay normal characters, so the result is still real, copy-pasteable Unicode rather than an image.

Why does the page glitch at high intensity?

The combining marks reach far above and below the text line, so tall stacks overlap whatever is next to them. That is the effect working, not a bug — we cap the preview box height and clip the overflow with a fade so the rest of the page stays stable. The text you copy is never clipped.

Will Zalgo text work in Discord, Reddit and other apps?

Yes. Combining marks are part of core Unicode, so the output pastes anywhere that accepts text — Discord, Reddit, chats, usernames. Some apps flatten very long stacks and a few spam filters strip heavy Zalgo, so test with a medium intensity before going maximum.

Is Zalgo text harmful or "cursed"?

No. It is nothing but standard combining characters defined in the Unicode spec. The "he comes" creepypasta folklore around it is internet fun and has no connection to the technology — pasting Zalgo cannot harm your device or account.
